The Troll
I ran into a real live troll today.
Her husband has been a customer of ours for a long time. They got married just recently, and I had never met her. Husband called and wanted me to go to measure for some renovations in his bathroom. He also asked for some fixture catalogs that I took with me.
She opens the door when I get there, and says “S wants you to call him.” I said, “Hello I am B. S wanted these catalogs that I brought.” She took them and tossed them in a pile on a nearby table. She led me upstairs to the bathroom, and said “He wants to put the cabinets there; this is Natalie the cleaning lady.” And she walked away. So I started taking some measurements. I turned around and there stood the most adorable little girl I have seen in a long time. She had long brown hair and big blue eyes. She was beautiful. The troll walked in behind her. I said “I have not met your daughter before, she is beautiful”. The troll said “yep, here is a catalog that S wanted you to see.” She walked out again. So I called S and talked about what he wanted to do.
Natalie walks up to me a little later, and said, “Did you need to talk to G?” I said, “no, why? Well, she left.”
I guess that the troll did not have time to spend with any of the “little people”.
The part that bothers me worse is that she treated that beautiful little girl like she was an inconvenience. You get that gut feeling sometimes that if the little girl messed up or spilled something that the punishments might get extravagant.
Sigh

I've met parents like this. It is sad.
On the other hand, you could have a mom that doesn't pay any attention to you. Wonder which is worse?
